154,591James Cameron really wanted the person that played Jake Sully to be a rather unknown actor so that the character would have a sense of realness to him. He preferred Jake to seem like the guy you’d want to have a beer with that just ends up becoming a leader that transforms an entire world. Yet, when Sam Worthington got the call to invite him to casting, the person that called didn’t tell him anything about the script or the director’s name. So, Sam was rather disappointed, and he thought that it was just going to be another waste of time. He ended up beating Matt Damon and Jake Gyllenhaal, who were the studio’s first choices.
