905There is an interesting reference to Ready Player One. In Millie’s apartment, you can clearly see blocks on her coffee table that spell out ANORAK. That is the name of Halliday’s avatar in the Ready Player One story, and that movie was written by Zak Penn, who also worked as a writer for Free Guy. Anorak is actually a British slang word that’s used for a person that has strong interest or obsession in niche subjects. In other words, Anorak is slang for a geek or nerd, and there are plenty of them in Free Guy and Ready Player One. Another reference to another media outlet comes in the form of the city itself. Free City is actually based on Liberty City from GTA 3 and 4.
