Did You Know In TUSK…
When Guy LaPointe speaks about the previous murder of a hockey player named Gregory Gumtree, it’s actually a reference to a real website. Gumtree was a British Craigslist-type website called Gumtree, and this is where Kevin Smith saw the original prank advertisement that is used in the film. He based the entire concept of the script off of Gumtree. The post was actually from a homeowner that offered a free of charge living situation if the guest agreed to dress as a walrus. It was posted by Brighton poet and prankster, Chris Parkinson, and he was actually a fan of Kevin Smith. After he got in touch with him, Kevin ended up hiring him as a producer.
