The villain fashion designers in both Zoolander films are based off of minor characters found in the original Star Trek series. Jacobim Mugatu was actually named after the gorilla-like creature that appeared in season two, episode nineteen, “A Private Little War”. On the other hand, Alexanya Atoz is the villain in this film, and she’s named after the librarian from season three, episode twenty-three, “All Our Yesterdays”. This is also the second film where Penelope Crus plays a character that has found the Fountain of Youth. Her character in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ended up discovering it as well.
