Did you know this about Sing? There’s a heartwarming story behind one of the songs featured in the movie. One of the songs played during the audition scene is “Stout-Hearted Men” by Shooby Taylor, sung by a hippo. Shooby Taylor, who passed away in 2003, left the rights to the song with his son, who at the time of the film’s release, was in his 70’s and living just above the poverty line. Writer and director Garth Jennings had always been an admirer of Shooby Taylor and chose the song in hopes that the royalty payments would be beneficial to Shooby Taylor’s son.
