70Mario Kart World's recent online update sets a new standard for this series, with driving from course to course being the main focus to online races. This isn't the first time that a Mario spinoff has shifted towards a new gameplay direction that wasn't as fulfilling as what once was. Unlike 3D Mario where innovation and change is accepted and appreciated, Mario spinoff's are usually considered as better when they stick to what always worked, but why is that?
This is Nintendo's design philosophy conundrum, that Different=Better.
