Of course, the "gold standard" everyone talks about are the BOE monitors. This isn't a BOE, but since the contrast ratio is 1000:1, it's about twice as high as the BOE monitors. So, the colors really pop (they look much more vibrant than on my Ms. Pac-Man cab). The response rate is also much faster than the BOE monitors, so that's a bonus.

As for washout, the stock monitor is every bit as bad as you've heard. Seriously. From the right, you might as well be looking at a sheet of white paper. With this monitor, the right side looks great. Viewed from the left, the color does shift, but it doesn't go white. It's still viewable and playable from every angle. And from most angles, it looks great... vibrant and colorful.

Is it perfect? No. It's still a TN, and from extreme angles, that color shift makes an appearance. But it's WAYYYY better than stock, and in my mind, it totally redeems this cabinet. If you're on the fence, it's an upgrade that's well worth the price.
