Digimon Survive was a bit of a surprise as it wasn't quite the "tactics RPG" that we were told we would be getting. Instead, this game leans very heavily into visual novel territory, and for some reason this has put people right off it.

But, as I argue in this video, if you give the game a chance on its own merits, then the experimental and creative soul of the game is admirable and exactly the kind of thing that we should be celebrating when game developers do it.
