Digimon World Dawn and Dusk: "From Yawn Till Dusk" | Tome of Silver
Become a true Digimon Master today! Hello everyone, and welcome to Chapter 24 of the Tome of Silver. The show where I randomly select a game from my collection, review it, and add it to an ever-growing ranking list.
Digimon, short for Digital Monsters, began life as a series of virtual pet toys, where you would have a handheld electronic device holding a small digital creature. By training and taking care of your digital pet, you could make them stronger and have them transform into new more powerful forms. Digimon would become incredibly popular and eventually would become a bit of a multimedia sensation. There was of course the original animated series, which would make Digimon well-known here in the West, and from there, Digimon would branch out to card games, manga, and video games.
As a kid, I wasn’t very big into Digimon, falling much more into the Pokémon side of the monster-collecting franchises. My first exposure to Digimon was through a VHS of Digimon the movie, but that was really it. One day when I was browsing the Sears Christmas catalog of that year, really dating myself with that one, do they even make those anymore, I saw two games that caught my eye, Digimon World Dawn and Dusk for the Nintendo DS. Deciding I wanted to give it a try, I asked for Digimon World Dusk for Christmas, while my brother got Digimon World Dawn.
When I opened up my copy on Christmas day, I was very excited, and I immediately started playing. However, that Christmas, I got a bit of food poisoning, and became very ill, and for some reason, my brain associated my illness with playing the game, leading me not to want to play it again until over half a year later. Eventually, I decided to pick it back up again, and I ended up loving it. Before this video, I had played through Dusk three times, and to this day, I have nothing but fond memories of the game. So I was defiantly curious to give Digimon World Dusk another try, and see how it holds up with a much more critical eye. So, without any further ado, enter the Digital World, fight a Tyrannosaurus Rex with a gun for an arm, and let’s turn the page to Digimon World Dawn and Dusk, for the Nintendo DS.
