DiRT Rally (Early Access) : Overview
0Overall I'm liking this game, but it just needs that extra hardcore-edness to make it more special. Still the best rally game in a decade though at it's core right now.
Why no cockpit view? Because Codemasters is incapable of making one worth using I guess. Or alternatively, the long tradition of rally games having crappy cockpit cameras continues. They wonder why only 5% of their users used it? Here's my answer - because it's trash. FoV doesn't cover a wide enough range, visual steering wheel shake effects to "make it look more alive" or something, 180 degree visual wheel rotation - it all adds up to be useless.
There are a few mods on RaceDepartment to adjust the eyepoint and FoV which I would suggest using, though they don't fix the wheel which is 75% of my annoyance with the cockpit cam. It's really weird seeing your in game steering wheel jack around like mad on a smooth road....
