【Cave of Ordeal 1 練武の洞窟1】
In the first turn, at least four Zakkum will reach you. Their Putrid Breath can paralyze or poison you. So try to eliminate at least two or more in the first turn. A good idea is to keep a healer, or someone else with Espoir, at ready to deal with those status ailments. The next turn, two more Zakkum will join the fight. That is, if you stay on the bottom row of the battle field, where the base panel is. If you move even one row up from where the base panel is, the Manticore will most likely spot you and join the fight as well.
The Manticore is the most dangerous opponent in this stage. The long range of this attack makes it almost impossible to avoid.
The last two Zakkum won't move until you set foot on the upper half of the stage. So take your time with the other enemies, and leave these for last.
【Cave of Ordeal 2 練武の洞窟2】
This stage is heavy packed with Kit Cats. Kit Cats have high attack and counter rate. The combination of these two, can be very lethal. Also, watch out for their Mystic Blast attack, which can hit 3 spaces in front of the Kit Cat and does massive damage.
A good strategy here, would be to use long ranged attacks, for example spells, bows, guns or spears, to avoid those devastating counters. If you only use the row below the base panel and the base panel itself, you will only have to deal with four Kit Cats at first. The downside is that this leaves very little room for movement. If you move left, right or up away from the base panel, you will most likely lure out all six Nekomata and two Cait Siths as well. So this might be a bit much. The last two Cait Siths and the Succubus won't move until you enter the centre aisle. The Succubus is not that much of a threat after the pack of Kit Cats.
【Cave of Ordeal 3 練武の洞窟3】
It is an ideal place for leveling up characters, as by default it has experience-boosting tiles and all the enemies are grouped in a 3-by-3 square, making it easy to damage them all at once with various attacks.
Plus, the monsters here are of the Galactic Demon class, which gives out the most Experience in Disgaea, while also only being able to move two spaces and attack from three spaces away. This gives Mages a huge advantage, since they can attack from further away than that.
In Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness and Disgaea DS, a variation of this map is present as the final version of the "Demonhall Mirror" stage, with stronger enemies and "EXP +100% Geo Effect instead of the "50%" version here, making this stage obsolete by then.
【Cave of Ordeal 4 練武の洞窟4】
As soon as you enter, a swarm of Alps will engage you in combat. Their Hell Pepper attack can poison you. So try to eliminate at least two or more in the first turn. A good idea is to keep a healer, or someone else with Espoir, at ready to deal with those status ailments.
The Dullahans and the Death Boar won't move until you enter the central aisle. So after you have gotten rid of the Alps, you can bring out a mage and attack them from a safe distance. Any spell with a range of at least 7, will keep the monsters stationary, allowing you pick away at their health at your leasure.
【Cave of Ordeal 5 練武の洞窟5】
Winning it is complicated by the difficulty of attacking the furthest monster, a level 1000 zombie. The difficulty is that it is located on an island 12 spaces away from the mainland. There is a bridge midway, meaning you would need to be able to throw a character 6 spaces twice to reach it in person. This immediately requires two Thieves and/or Captain Gordon in order to be able to reach it.
The strategy a player often follows is first defeating all the creatures on the main island, then stacking whatever characters they have left via lifting, with the two thieves being on the bottom, then throwing the whole stack over to the island.
The level 1000 Zombie King is removed from the map once it is cleared. Also when the map is cleared, the player recieves a God's Hand, a rank 39 Fist weapon.
In Disgaea DS and PC, the Zombie King does not have an Arcadia equipped.
【Demonhall Mirror Stage 1 - 8】
Demonhall Mirror contains 8 different stages. The first 7 stages are unique in that way, that once beaten, they cannot be revisited. The 8th, and final, stage, can be replayed as often as you want. It is also the best leveling spot in Laharl's story.
Upon entering the stage for the first time, Etna tells Laharl that this is the place where they keep the magical mirror that reflects the power of the strong. This prompts Laharl to exclaim that he's the strongest demon in all the Netherworld, and he will prove it by killing every demon in there. And thus starts the journey through the different stages of the Demonhall Mirror.
