At first, let me summarize the game without spoilers, In the near future, we are control a former Gravcycle pilot named Romer Shoal, the leader of a small resistance group. As a last resort in the universe where the game takes place, some of the people are willingly and some of them are taken from their bodies and placed in robot bodies. We and our resistance group are a small team that has a robotic body but does not want to forget old human memories. As the authoritarian Rayonne forces try to eliminate the last remnants of humanity, Romer and our resistance team are the only hope for salvation.
Disintegration is a sci-fi production that blends interesting fps / rts genres including a team of 30 people, including Halo creator Marcus Lehto.
There are two modes in the game, both single player and multiplayer. When I started the game, "Single player mode is a short adventure to teach multiplayer mode." I thought, but the game surprised me a lot later.
Although the disintegration is an independent production with 30 people, it makes you feel that you are playing an AAA quality game with visuality, cut image quality, optimization, designs and different map designs.
I also think that you can play it comfortably in low-end systems ,like me, under 2020 circumtamces that is very well optimized to play.
As I said at the beginning, we control an old “Gravcycle” pilot named Romer in the game. It's a one-man anti-gravity vehicle to describe the Gravcycle, which is surprisingly easy to manage as well. In the game universe, at first, these vehicles were used in search and rescue jobs, and later, they became symbols of luxury and welfare. Then, once weapons and radars were included to these vehicles, they were used to command small attack groups. This is the main thing what we do in the game in order to control our attack group from the air and support them. This fps / rts type, which is already mentioned in the game, is combined here. during the single player mode, we can use many different gravcycle in the story. But the real changing for us is only weapons and abilities. because we see surrounding area from first person camera. The gravcycle we manage usually has two guns. These weapons vary many such as rocket launchers, Gatling guns, automatic rifles, bombs.
Apart from Gravcycle, although we do not directly control them, there are some characters designed as detailed as our character in the game. The members of this team also have their own special skills too. Like throwing an electromagnetic bomb or causing time to slow down in the zone we choose. You can improve your team and your character with chips. You can find these chips during the mission or you can gain chips by completing the challenges. These improvements only effect passively. like Increasing our lives, shortening the duration of talents.
Unfortunately, there are also pieces(shortcoming ?) that I dislike as much as I like in the game. character introductions are very weak. We try to discover the universe and the characters by talking with the characters from the hub and learning from the short cutscenes. That is why we cannot internalize almost any character. It would be an interesting game if it introduced the game universe properly. Also The only duty of the center is that taking new challenges related to the our task and listening the talks consisting of at most two or three sentences, if you want. After a while, "Brother, why did you put this center?" I asked myself many times.
Another part I don't like is the game's tasks. The variety of enemies is very limited until a certain chapter, it feels like you are doing same things earlier in the game. At least the different map designs have reduced this uniformity.
Also, I don't know if it can be seen as a minus. While I was playing the game, I could not understand why the character in our team that was designed in such detail was not playable. While playing, I always said "I wish to play singleplayer mode and that could be finished as a co-op", "I wish to be able to control the guy on my team."
I wrote this review when I finished the single player mode. I will update the review after I play the multiplayer mode. If you are only going to try the single player mode, I suggest you to wait for a discount.
Finally, I want to thank Private Division for sending the review copy.
