With the popularity of comic book superheroes on the big screen at an all-time high, could one that's first go-round on the silver screen was less than stellar be given a second chance to fly?

According to Vulture, Disney is eyeing a reboot of their 1991 film The Rocketeer. The film starred Billy Campbell as a pilot who discovers a rocket-pack prototype stolen from Howard Hughes in his plane which he uses to become the title character. The film also starred Jennifer Connelly as his love interest and ex-Bond Timothy Dalton as the bad guy.

The character first appeared in a comic book series published in 1982 and was a throwback to the serial action heroes of the 1930's. When the film was released a decade later, it failed to find an audience managing a U.S gross of only $46 million, barely topping its $40 million budget. Despite its less than stellar box office, the film has managed to obtain a cult following, but why reboot a movie that failed to make an impact with audiences twenty plus years ago? Two words - Iron Man. The storyline bears a striking resemblance to the hit Marvel property and with comic book movies equaling big bucks, the studio thinks there's enough of a name to create a possible new franchise.

There is currently no director attached, though the original movie was helmed by Captain America director Joe Johnston. The studio is reportedly meeting with writers to determine the best way to bring the character to a modern audience.

So who out there is a fan of the original Rocketeer and do you want to see him fly again in a reboot? Let us know in the comments and be sure to hit that subscribe button to stay in the know on the latest movie news. I'm Aja Dang, thanks for watching!
