740Though it has not aged anywhere near as well as its sequels, The Sims is still a landmark game and remains fun to mess with. One thing it has over its sequels is its music, though one thing no one misses are the terrifying jingles when something REALLY goes wrong. The first two are the cues for something "dangerous" happening, most notably when a burglar is in the area or when your sim is close to being fired. The second two are warnings that a fire has started.
I really should emphasis how much the Danger themes terrified me as a kid. They had a bad habit of popping out of nowhere due to the random nature of most of the events they are attributed to. Never before has a random raccoon walking down the sidewalk been so startling!
