A ghost in Maxos Temple wants him and his brothers freed from the curse that binds them to the mortal world. He wants you to smash Lord Lovis' soul stone so that Lovis is bound to his tower until the end of time and all the spirits of the servants released from the curse to move on to the Hall of Echoes.

Completing this quest fails Lovis' quest "Lost Soul" and vice versa.
