Divinity Original Sin 2 - Getting Rather Intimate with a Desparate Mythology-god
Apparently a transition of polytheism to monotheism is part of the storyline. Sort of like Islam (they took a polythesitic god and made him the one god). But still with a hellenistic element - One of the polytheistic gods is to be elevated to be the one-god at the expense/death/servitude of all the others. There are seven gods in D:OS2. One for each of six races (Human, elf, dwarf, lizard, imp, orc), plus one for a class/profession - Wizards.
Clearly not compatible YHWH or the bible - he was 'one and only' from the beginning - all other gods are man-made or deceiving demons.
Something has convinced that only one with the power of all the gods can defeat the void. Such a merger will destroy all the existing gods but the gods battle to be the surviving sole consciousness in the new franken-chimera-god.
I go through extra hoops to make sure both of the twins fully share there divine champion, godwoken, holy mission / calling. Moses and Moses, not Moses & Aaron. DOS:2 is treating multiple player-created PCs as multiple MMORPG-like instances though so they each have to go through the sequence individually on most of the divine interaction scenes, though one scene had them together (when all the gods were bound by void-tendrils being milked of their source-energy).
Source in D:OS appears to be a universe-wide 'essence' much like the force in Star Wars. It is much more limited, and plenty of magic works without source or sourcery, and most people NPCs in the game know some form of magic.
