The most challenging & trickiest boss battle in entire game. I had to think a lot to create a good strategy.With this method you will not only save the spirits but also defeat Devourer & his fanatics without taking any damage. All credit goes to 'Vord Emver' Crossbow. This crossbow when used with 'Markman's fang' does incredible piercing damage.
Before facing the final boss of The Four Relics of Rivellon, I thought what more challenge Larian can throw at me?
Yes, there are battles where enemies will go first ignoring your initiative. But to put shackles of pain with having your entire physical armour on lone wolf that even during dialogues? LOL
Very well,challenge accepted.
Challenge: You can not go invisible during first turn & hide because enemies will attack dragon & remove your invisibility. And this dragon has insane amount of armour.There is also piercing damage, if you decide to just stay out of battle. Remaining Idle is not an option.
Combat tactic: First teleport every fanatic in a such way that they will fall in a straight line. Then use markman's fang. Defeat the fanatics during first turn. As soon as you defeat them Devourer will be freed. And all your friendlies will be knocked down in spirit form. Now you can not attack dragon since you have shackles of pain chained to him. Sure you can use 'Living on the edge' but I am not a fan of that skill.
Fane has 'Time warped' skill,use it first. Now use Cryogenic stasis skill, it will end your turn, but I think only fane can control himself due to time warped rest of the characters lose their turn.
Now delay this turn.
With cryogenic stasis you will be immune to any damage & dragon will not attack you.
Once you are free from shackles of pain, the devourer is vulnerable. Defeat him. Save the spirits. And get one of the coolest armours in entire game. The only armour which can increase your warfare to 22.
My Gear: How to get best gear?
Hawke's eye,Glowers,twinkle-eyes,knight's promise are from traders.
I did not get another good ring so I had to use ring from well, from hollow marshes.
Rest of the items' locations:
Nazad Hunola(old lady's house basement),last one standing(Lizard merchant in Kemm's masnion),Kallisteis (Elf scholar merchant near cathedral),Vord Emver (most important item is a drop from Kajun the frozenheart when you defeat Karon the mistake),Luronta Temva (Elf Merchant in city square) are easily available in game.
Build: Talents are Ambidextrous,Executioner,Five-star Diner,Hothead,Lone wolf,Spider's kiss.
