More thoughts on our modern DIY scratching post: Happy to say that almost a year later, the scratching post is still holding strong and she uses it pretty much every day! This couldn't make us more happy. She uses this vertical scratching post way more than she used the horizontal one we made a while back, and it's not a tripping hazard haha. It fits in nicely with our other modern decor, though I will say we don't use it to set drinks on very often - but that's probably because we always sit on the other end of the couch. One day I'm sure the sisal will wear out, but when that time comes it shouldn't be hard to undo our screws and replace it. Yay for a cat scratching post that actually works!!!
