In this episode...we open about 31 Spirit Blades packs, recall some interesting memories & let the app rest for now (at least until the next worthwhile event which seems to be the new GX character Hell Kaiser Ryo (Also known as Zane T.), but before you get over hyped my friend, don't forget H.K. uses the CyberDarks, and that the original Cyber Dragons had a plentiful supply of gimmicky cards that Duel Links wants to eagerly welcome home. I do hope Duel Links proves me wrong this early January, but based on their track record, the chances of them pulling another Alexis or Bastion are extremely low). I'll try to believe, but if they pull another Bonz ('half-assed' Wights, and half-assed Ghostricks) on me, I can't say that I will be satisfied with this version/format of the game. VRAINS- [was the driving factor in the Genocide of the Extra Deck & decks that heavily relied on it] (Think Synchro Climbing decks, XYZ Toolbox etc.) VRAINS at least has Link monsters to keep things fresh and less jarring since it is set in a different era essentially. To veteran duelist such as myself it feels like an insult to blatantly ignore the other 'Dimensions' (Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum AND Fusion). I can't say they haven't given fusion a proper say because nostalgia is reigning supreme now. If they wanted to do Duel Links right, and appeal to new AND veteran players, they could have cutely integrated a strong storyline into the game where you get to experience ALL the different Duel Dimensions from the start, and if you wanted to spicy things up and progress, you could, and not be slowed down by paywalls or time gates (need to wait "X" amount of real life time before I can do/continue "X".) if you are free to play like me. As of now, I heavily prefer the real format, at least there are multiple ways to have fun and not be stifled but the short gimmicky pool of cards. I am sad all the cards I have been predicting are trickling into Duel Links. While checking my super common cards (in real life) I made of note of them, and no less than a week later they were being 'introduced' as new and powerful cards. I am not sure if I am the only one that feels this way, or perhaps it is because I have been with the game for so long that the nostalgia pieces do not appeal to me at all. If I wanted to enjoy nostalgia, I could simply read the Manga or watch the Anime. The best way I can try to simplify it as is with this pizza analogy for the pizza lovers (If you are a pizza hater or prefer other things substitute that instead for the sake of the analogy). Is like if you once saw a very sexy pizza on tv once, so sexy this pizza was that you would probably put a ring on it. You learn over the years that there is more than meets the eye, and this pizza has many if not all your favorite toppings. Today is the day, the pizza you wanted to meet all this time is finally at the door, you hear a knock. You race to the door and eagerly open the door; only to find a reheated sliver of bread on a plate that says ‘Duel Links’. Would you be happy with this? Or would you pick up your Pokeballs and demand the satisfaction?
