Ok my lovely little gang, Reggie here with a little soapbox piece. It was in 2006 when the Heavy Rain tech demo from Quantic Dreams blew me away, and with it ushered in a new form of storytelling in videogames. The impact of these highly detailed facial animations meant the gaming world was at a tipping point of encroaching on the movie industry of building great narratives.
Videogames still of course has plenty to learn from Movies, but the gap is now so close and at times videogames actually surpasses what modern movies have to offer. In this video I pit them against each other and analyze 5 key areas to support this opinion.
