Dodonpachi (Arcade) - (C-L | 1-All | Longplay)
Lo and behold...a 1-All and my first 1cc on a cave title. Tears of anger were shed on this...but alas I got what I wanted and am very happy with this run overall.
What's the plot here? Based on the ending at least, based on the ending at least, mechanized aliens started popping up and you're lone fighter has to deal with it. You get three ships, Type A which is forward shot for experts who want to play as aggressive as possible, Type B...yeah Type B, and Type C, a spread shot type ship.
If you're confident you can go for type A since it's the fastest along with a good narrow forward shot type. But if you want to play survival (and also the most ideal ship for a 2-All) then type C.
Shot boost though? Laser, it shreds through enemies and has a barrier that also deals damage to enemies. Regular shot boost though...I can't really say for sure, the laser just shreds through a lot of enemies and pierces against the smaller ones which is crucial for when you stream.
After so much touhou, a cave shmup hits different with how fast everything is. To quote a friend, you have to kill bosses fast because the moment it gives you a pattern that's way too fast, either bomb or pray you got some good reflexes on you.
It's all fun and games until you get halfway through stage 3 and onwards where you have to juggle between streaming bullets to make some gaps for you to squeeze through along with micro dodging. I will say this....the slow down is immensely helpful to give you some time to think.
Still, if you know what you're doing/know a route for each stage then you're all set really since most of the shots are static/aimed at you. A 2-All is a different story though, think of it as the GnG tradition but there's certain requirements for you to even see the 2nd loop.
Not much else to say though, it's fast, tough and explosive with some music to compliment all the action, really stage 1 & 4 music already already encompasses the explosive action and challenge you have to go through.
Best advice I can give is pick C-L and try to find a route of your own, and if possible...see if you're lucky enough to do the stage 4 boss glitch, makes it easier to deal (very crucial too if you're that confident in doing a 2-All.)
If you like my runs be sure to check out the group I'm in if you want to see us play more good ol fashion retro games!
