1.51 is both easier and harder than I thought! Its main feature is the easy access to the Hyper and yes, depending on your goal that can be a detriment. As per usual using Hypers will raise your rank within that stage. If you've raised high enough rank, the game's pattern difficulty will upgrade! Starting from Loop 1, Omote Loop then the Ura Loop difficulty including the counter bullets! Yikes! Even worse (or nice, since it is deceptively easy to do), you can access Hibachi just by maxing your Hyper rank for at least 2 of the 5 stages. I deliberately didn't wan to encounter Hibachi, so I held back with my Hypers! Tackling the game with no Hyper is surprisingly fun.
Bomb Style is used to decrease the counter bomb punishment. If you use Strong Style, you'll consume 2 bombs instead of 1 when you get hit. That's not ideal!
On a specific color the bee item will restore 1 bomb, which makes this mode beginner-friendly in terms of resources. Even easier resource-wise because you're forced to tackle Ura route, which lets you access more bees! If you find the normal 1.5 still too harsh but don't want the patterns get nerfed, give this mode a go!
