Does Change Have To Be Hard? Short Answer... No! OM School Live
"When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves." - Viktor Frankl
We have a love hate relationship with change.
We really want progress, growth, evolution, expansion, but we don't want it to upset the apple cart or be to demanding.
Changing circumstances is usually difficult and occasionally impossible.
But, as Viktor Frankl said in the quote above, "...we are challenged to change ourselves."
I have personally been going through a lot of changes of late. And they have all been challenging.
But I have discovered one thing that has made it easier.
Loving Self-Acceptance.
It is inevitable that we are going to run into brick walls and glass ceilings in our lives.
When I remember that it is inviting me to become more than I have ever been before, it eases the pressure.
I deeply desire more of:
Openheartedness towards all of life
Inner integrity and clarity
Insight into my stuck places and blind spots
Deep connection with others
Success in what matters most
Those all require changes in me. This is why my meditation practice is so important to me. I have never found another more effective tool for cultivating inner peace in tumultuous times.
Change is being thrust on us from every side a a bewildering pace these days. Allowing ourselves to allow change to come, allow ourselves to be changes, to cultivate loving awareness and tender honesty will allow us to sail our little ship through the storms to other side of wisdom and compassion.
Then change will be known by its other name. Transformation.
