My Little Pony kicks off the fifth generation with a new movie. This is the first time one generation connects to another since gen 5 is a sequel series to gen 4 My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Unfortunately, despite the mane 6's best efforts, the magic of friendship has been lost to Equestria and the pony tribes are divided again. (So much for gen 4, huh?) So now it's up to an Earth Pony, Sunny Starscout and her new friends to bring magic and friendship back to the land. Although it kind of feels like if Twilight Sparkle failed, there's just no hope for friendship in the end. Cynicism aside, the movie was a lot of fun and we'd ultimately recommend it.
