Does Kano Actually Have a Son? Let's Look at How Endings Work in Mortal Kombat.
In Kano's MKX ending, it's revealed that he tortures his own son. But - as John Tobias joins me to explain - endings are merely "what if" scenarios, showing what would hypothetically happen were one character to win the tournament. Since Kano obviously won't win, his son is not necessarily canon. Brian Chard and Dominic Cianciolo comment as well to say the same thing.
But -- and this is a big but -- historically, in every single installment of MK, any parts of ending that deal with revelations of the past have always, without exception, 100% of the time, been held up as canon. If, in Mortal Kombat 11, it turns out that Kano does not have a son after all, they would be reversing 25+ years of established precedent. (Several other endings, such as Mileena's from the old timeline and Smoke's from the current timeline, are shown here to drive that point home.) Therefore, in all likeliness.... yes, Virginia, there is a Kano's son.
Exception: If Kano's ending takes place several decades in the future, it's possible his son was not born yet when MKX's storyline concluded. The odds of this are miniscule, as Kano doesn't look like a terribly old man in his ending.
