There are 3 shorter stories that make up this video:
1. Dog Rescuers Help Pit Bull Puppies With Small Miracle
WA2S Films had an opportunity to ride along with dog rescue professionals as they provided outreach to many pooches and people living in Houston's 3rd ward, adjacent to the University of Houston.
2. Birth Defect Puppy Poops Everywhere Has Life Saved! LAST CHANCE RESCUE
Melissa and Ava, along with trusty companion Ruger, travel 7 hours to Kentucky to meet with a transporter.
3. Hope Rescues Dog Turning to Stone Too Hurt To Move in Houston
Buddy Guy is one such dog. As Tom drove up on him as he tried to cross a busy street, it was apparent he was in a great deal of pain. When Tom sat with him, he didn't move for nearly twenty minutes, because it was believed he was in too much pain.
The World Animal Awareness Society has partnered with Abandoned Animal Rescue to help rescue dogs we come across on the streets of Houston while we try to understand the big picture of homeless and stray dogs in Texas.
Once Buddy Guy was through intake at Harris County Animal Shelter, he had a few days and a couple of advocates pushing for his rescue through social media.
The transporter is delivering a couple months old French Mastiff puppy that had been turned in to a veterinarians office in Tennessee who had been asked to terminate the puppy because no one would want him.
The reason?
The puppy had a birth defect and the initial diagnosis was stenosis of the spine. This fun-loving energetic puppy is unable to control any potty function. It is as if she is a leaky balloon. She cannot help it. And, at least as the breeder thought, no one would want this dog, and we do not want to put any more money into this property that will not pay us back - so let's just kill it.
This is where The Devoted Barn come in. And why we know them as the LAST CHANCE RESCUE!
Once word got out that the girls were in the neighborhood, so many folks came out to get advice and medicine for their pit bull puppies from the team to help provide the dogs in all the guardian's care the best possible opportunity to have long healthy lives.
As you watch the video further, you will come across some people who did not know what our intentions were initially, and were very protective of their dog - rightly so.
Once a connection was made - and everyone got to know each other - magic happened. Thanks for everyone involved for allowing the WA2S Films team to capture this very powerful scene of community cooperation to help solve a massive problem currently plaguing Houston.
