I made a video a while back covering some alternatives to Escape from Tarkov or games like Escape from Tarkov and given the recent community controversies I figured I'd revisit it. Now having played a few of the games I hadn't at the time I can give a better answer and we've even had a few new names pop up which we'll discuss. The criteria for games that work as alternatives revolve around the raid system in particular and it's what I will focus on here as well. For example, ARMA has guns and realism but we all know it's not a competitor to Tarkov it's just not the same. For a game to qualify, the core gameplay must revolve around limited resources that you risk to either progress in the game or provide benefits to your ability to play it. So you risk something to gain something and depending on what these somethings are make or break the game for me.
