3After all the crazy stuff I've tested to get past this barrel, I finally found this technique.
It looks like a simple teamthrow, but it way more complex.
After jumping above the barrel and hugging the wall, I drop down until I am just about to hit the barrel (2 frames more would mean I hit the barrel). The first teamthrow stops my momentum, and once Dixie gets back to Kiddy I move one more pixel to the right, getting closer to the gap between the barrel and the doorframe.
Without that first teamthrow you can't get this slight squeeze.
Once in that said position, I can throw Dixie through the gap without touching the barrel.
Step by step:
- team up
- jump over the barrel, hugging the wall
- when you are about to touch the barrel, teamthrow up
- if necessary, buffer more and more consecutive teamthrows until you see Kiddy move one pixel to the right upon catching Dixie
- that's your indicator that your position is good, so throw Dixie to the upper right
Even though this sounds super precise and difficult, it is RTA viable with a little bit of practice. However, you would need both an early attempt and very good movement with Dixie's fast-rolls to save time.
This video is a TAS, and saves ~10 seconds over the normal TAS route for this stage.
