My biggest roadblock in doom ever, finally done. It still amazes me how good the RNG was most of the time. There were so many lucky moments I can’t even count them. Especially when at some point the quadrillion viles in the penultimate fight targeted me all at once and still no single zap, it’s insane.
I'm so happy that this turned out to be the successful run because of all the BS that happened. The nasty cyberdemon block off in the cathedral fight, the accidental megasphere grab right before the huge penultimate fight was very YIKES, the 22% health moment when cleaning up the lost souls ...
The map itself is absolutely jaw dropping. If you ever roamed around in it by yourself you know what I mean. All the cool doom mapping tricks and perfect usage of the advanced Boom engine. The sheer dimensions of the architecture. The omnipresent gigantism (or dwarfism, depending on the perspective) you feel while playing. the ominous music, the strong oppressing atmosphere, like the feeling you get when you realize you are somewhere you should definitely not be. Some people consider this level (besically the whole megawad) as the aquivalent of a dark souls game but as an FPS. Truly a unique and unsurpassed boss level and in my opinion the best one in all of Sunlust.
