Doom 3 - Source Port (Dhewm3) - No Commentary

You will need a copy of Doom 3 (and Resurrection of Evil if you want to play the expansion). You can grab the files from your Steam install or wherever else you may have purchased it. I run this game off a NAS and have it running right from the Steam install folder (I replaced/renamed the exe so that I can launch it through Steam). Note that the source port changes the location of your save games folder. Your save games are changed from the Doom 3 folder to your Documents folder. Have fun!
If you have never played Doom 3 before, this is the ideal version. It has QoL technical features you'd find in a "remaster" or source port in this case (borderless window, less crashing/bugs, better performance, etc) without compromising on the game's visuals or design. The BFG edition of Doom 3 made some controversial (read: terrible) changes like making everything super easy to see, ruining the lighting, and giving you too much ammo. Switching to your flashlight in the dark might seem cumbersome but it does make for engaging gameplay that doesn't feel tedious. There is also Doom 3 VR which was developed by Carmack as a tech demo for the Oculus Rift (the original) and then picked up by some modders but also had its own commercial release (Doom 3 PSVR), but that's still based on the BFG edition and I haven't played it.
