This is gameplay for Doom 3 on the original Xbox.

I know what the complaints were about this one, but to be honest I really enjoyed this game. The Xbox port was an awesome port job considering the PC hardware required to play the game at the time. They got it to run, and run good on the system, and graphically, it's easily the best looking Xbox game. The only other games that come close IMO are Butcher Bay, and maybe Farcry due to it's huge scope.

However, considering how little I care about graphics (I can appreciate them, but overall they have nothing to do with my opinion of a game), it's good that I actually really enjoyed the single player experience. Does it recapture that old Doom feel? Eh, not exactly. It feels more like Half-Life than classic Doom, but the part that I really like is the fact that you are that lone "Doomed Space marine" taking on hellish enemies in cramped, dark corridors. You're the lone badass, and you don't have to deal with sissy crap like a squad-mates, or regenerative health. I like the old heathpack system of older FPS games. It allows you to rush in guns-blazing, and I still like to play Rambo mother****ers!!! I'm so sick of modern FPS games, and their Pansy health systems that force you to hide like a little girl every two seconds. Sure, in games like Doom 3, you may have to back-track to find health, but it adds a strategic element to the gameplay. Do you pick up the health now, or do you wait till your life is almost gone? Plus, the healtpack system allows you to play the game like you've actually got a pair of testicles.

Do I like modern FPS games? Sure, but I just get tired of every one of them making you feel like a sissy, considering the "Old crappy" FPS games let you go balls-out and rush in. They were fast, furious, and just straight up in your face fun. The game throws it's biggest, baddest mother****ers you way, and you respond by giving them a face-full of buckshot. Primitive? Yep. Fun? **** yeah!!!!!

Anyway, got a bit off the subject, but Doom 3 does give you that oldschool in-your-face feel. Modern (sissy) FPS gamers may not appreciate games like Doom 3, or the old Quake series, but I sure as hell still do. If you had the Doom or Quake Marine in any modern FPS, they'd totally rape the s*** out of them all. End of story.
