@jnmartin84 is working on dynamic lights for Doom 64 Dreamcast! Inspired by how Silent Hill 1 rendered its flashlight, these lights blend vertex colors kind of like how Doom 64 gradients work. Thus this feels like an era appropriate way to do lights that match Doom 64's theme. Eventually these lights could be ported to other Doom 64 ports as well.
Doom 64 Dreamcast is a native Dreamcast port using reverse engineered code and the KallistiOS development kit. One cool feature is that the Dreamcast controller analog triggers allow for analog strafing in Doom 64, so it now has complete analog movement. This opens up a future where you can burn Doom 64 mods onto CDs and give it to your friends for their Dreamcasts!
