DOOM - 8-bit NES Style Soundfont - Chocolate DOOM (PC)
Just chilling in here, playing some DOOM with 8-bit style music. Just the first 3 levels + the secret level in Episode 1 for now, though. I know some tracks sound a little "weird" (aside from being in 8-bit XD), but that's just because some instruments don't match on this soundfont, or are outright missing. But it's an interesting way of playing the game, nonetheless.
I recorded this at 1280x800@70Hz. I didn't even know my CRT monitor supported this resolution natively, but there you go. But I much prefer playing this game at 320x200, with thick scanlines. I now know that that isn't the way the game was supposed to look back when it launched, since it should line double to 640x400@70Hz in any common VGA 31KHz CRT monitor of the time, but the scanlines are so nice with DOOM, I just can't get enough of them... Sadly, I *won't* be getting any very soon; this monitor is already at its last breath.
But, let's just not think about that right now, and enjoy what it can still do for a little while longer!
I used VistualMIDISynth to emulate the MIDI soundfont:
