I used to be a keyboarder back in the DOS days. Even much later when I started using ZDoom on Windows somewhere in 200x, I still kept playing with keyboard only (the damn windows keys screwed it for me). Holding ALT for strafe and SHIFT for run and CTRL for fire on the right side with my left hand, numeric pack arrows with the right hand and SPACE for use. That was it!

And people thing it's very hard to play like this, but if you were used it wasn't much harder (just more awkward and tiring for my left hands now I've just experienced it again). So, in this gameplay video I wanted to show you how I used to play, how different things are (more awkward movements but I can still shoot fast on the spot sometimes, short of circle strafe by unconsciously hold/release ALT and alternate left/right button presses as a move) and how it looks. I think back in the times I finished Requiem and Alien Vendetta like this. Later I got used to the mouse controls (and I prefer even mouselook on in GZDoom, no matter it's wrong for most, because I have a true sense of the 3d space and can shoot below/above precisely). But once I was playing like that, and it's not that impossible as people make it to be.
