DooM - Nobody Told Me About I.D
I'm sure you knew this was coming right? Its been 4 years since the "Year of Doom" that Bethesda had celebrated by releasing Doom and Doom II upon the PS4/Xbox One on July 26th 2019. So much has changed that this port that at once I didn't like has actually become decent which is surprising for Bethesda since they've done so much shit in the past.
Originally this port FORCED you to use a bethesda.net sign in and that was stupid, its only now used for downloading "official" addons which were made by Doom players and wad creators such as Jimmy, Thomas Vanderbuilt, XaSeR and more. It has rough parts where the controls are slippery and require fixing, a weapon wheel was added when addon support was announced to swap weapons but the fact you cannot swap after tapping r2 is somewhat sad.
Audio uses the MUS and Midi format and its not a true experience you'd see on DOS nor through a sourceport such as GZDoom but it certainly is better than enduring the poor slower tempo music it had when it first launched. The graphics are tad washed out as the Unity port used the true color that Nerve Software created for Duke 3d 20th Anniversary World Tour and also the Xbox 360 port of Doom which has No Rest For The Living. I dislike greatly how the darker areas look much darker vs hardware acclerated mode on a sourceport but I guess its a limit based on what Unity can do.
Multiplayer sucks. Yes its 4 player couch co-op but as I stated in the Quake episode, Bethesda are so *lazy motherfuckers* and can't be bothered to add online multiplayer to a game that will soon be 30 years old! That is sad.. At least there is Zandronum. I do not consider this Unity Port perfect but its acceptable now despite the rough beginnings it had.
