14OH SHIT EVERYONE JUMP IN THE TIME MACHINE.
Remember Doom: The Arcade Game?
No, not that cabinet in Grosse Pointe Blank, that thing wasn't even real! This is a long-dead project started by GooberMan, he of SSO and various other ZDoom projects, that showed off a load of relatively-advanced stuff before quietly being shelved.
While the map is called "Marine Lemmings", you won't be giving out any orders to the dumb little bastards. It plays more like a weird cross between Lemmings and -- HORRORS! -- an escort mission. Oh joy. At least here you don't immediately fail if all the lemming-escortees die.
The rules are simple; run around hitting switches and deactivating traps before all your braindead buddies are allowed out of their bunker, else they'll get smashed into paste and you won't get any bonus rewards.
The good news is that it's a perfectly functional map and an interesting take on scripting to make weird and wonderful, unconventional stuff happen.
The bad news is that you need some ancient fucking version of ZDoom to actually make it work (v1.23b28); I tried several versions and pretty much anything from v2.x.x onward is a complete no-go, with scripts that won't activate, maps crashing to desktop and other general broken shittery. This is also why the video is of shit-tastic quality; 1.23b28 just refused to co-operate with numerous methods of recording, so in the end I just said "fuck it" and dug out whatever prehistoric version of OBS would capture the damn window.
In any case, and even though it's an abandoned project which is now closing in on being 20 years old, it's still worth a look. The main map is pretty cool for something from 2001.
