Unholy Realms is a megawad which was one of the winners of 2013 Cacowards. I also have heard that this wad is for speedrunning friendly. I tried UV-Max of map 9 and map 16 when this wad was just released, then these runs were uploaded to Youtube. Although the experience of pistol starts I have is map 9 and map 16 only (also map 1 for regular play of the whole wad), I feel fun to play for speedrunning. I was recently surprised that UV-Max table of this wad have many holes. Now, I just want to fill them.

About this map, the pistol start is tricky without speedrunning technique. There are limited rockets and no SSG in this map. Especially, there is no additional rockets for the final battle after getting three keys, so rocket use needs to be carefully planned. You might spend much time to fight against tough enemies by a shotgun or a chaingun. An archvile in the final battle might checkmate you by resurrecting enemies if you were trouble in dealing with the vile. For solving the lack of ammo, the typical tactic for speedrunning is very available. You should release all enemies and gather them as soon as possible, then you can use rockets effectively and monster-infightings help you for a faster record. Through this UV-Max attempts, it is only a few shots but there were some scenes where I felt that SSG was necessary, so I wanted the author to place a SSG in this map. Finally, the combination of the vile and two pain elementals after the yellow key was extremely hard because lost souls induced self-destruction of rockets, so I died many times there.
