Its been 21 years since 2002 A Doom Odyssey was released and the 2002 megawad by Pcrof and Kristian Aro set a example alongside Alien Vendetta as two of the last great megawads. Fast forward to 2021 and I was awe struck to see that Pcrof had not only returned with Zone 400 which will be in this season later but also made a sequel to 2002 A Doom Odyssey, last year! The greatest surprises are the ones you never expect.
Released on Halloween 2022 and honored as a runner up at that year's caocawards, 2022 A Doom Odyssey is a 5 episode megawad for Ultimate Doom heavily inspired by SIGIL, Pcrof's The Death Tormention Series, and the original 2002 A Doom Odyssey, Its like the said megawad of 21 years ago but on steroids.
Everything about 2022 A Doom Odyssey is bigger, more detailed, and more adrenaline fueled vs 2002 A Doom Odyssey with maps being much larger and filled with traps and lowering walls/teleport traps that would make most quake in there chairs, Ammo placement is just *beautiful* and the entire megawad screams quality at every turn, Last episode is not for the faint of heart with SIGIL influence coming in quick and deadly bursts, My props to Pcrof for releasing one of two impressive megawads from last year.
