I'm sure there's many out there that have watched Army of Darkness, one of the best movies to me and part of the Evil Dead film series staring Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams. The gory film has a cult following and finding out there was a Doom wad was a great interest to me. This wad was going to be part of the Cacoaward special back in Season #3 but I waited, This is also the third wad I personally selected for this season.
Released on August 1rst 1996 and given a honor spot in the top 100 doom wads of all time, The link provided was given on November 30th 2003. An episode 3 replacement for Ultimate Doom, It worked on by a team consisting of Andrew Stine (Linguica), Jeff Allen, Stefan Maes, Steve Conway, Lawton Roberts (Doublebrl), Scott Powers, and Rick Sparks (Suture). 9 levels of pure chaos and evil slaughter with Ash Williams appearing on the HUD and his quotes/sounds from Army of Darkness being inside this wad.
The maps all take heretic influence with monsters all being used from Hexen and Heretic with some touchups, The chainsaw design is based on Army of Darkness. The wad does struggle with where to go as finding keys is mostly required and AOD Doom often expects you to open fake walls to look everywhere, Still this is a classic wad here and I'd say its better than most wads that emulate a movie.
