Cubia is actually the 8th major boss of the game. He is not really part of the cursed wave but does play an integral role. Your battle with him is what destroys the bracelet and makes the final battle more interesting. He occurs between the seventh and eight phases of the cursed wave.

This battle really isn't hard. It is kind of like the tarvos battle with the alternating magical and physical tolerance but he is a much slower enemy than Tarvos. Keep your party healed and everything will be fine.
