Draconus is an action-adventure platform game developed and published by Zeppelin Games in 1988. It was released for the Atari 8-bit family, Commodore 64, and ZX Spectrum. Draconus is similar to Metroid
The hero wants to reclaim back his kingdom from the Tyrant beast. In doing so he runs or jumps through various screens, in which he encounters on bats, balls or giant rats. These may be eliminated permanently by a punch or fire breathing. The fire breathing is limited, but may be replenished once in a while by collectible symbols. As superior task, the hero must find four special abilities and then face the final battle. One of the abilities allows him to metamorphose through special platforms into a water being granting him access to further areas.
Enemy contact deducts Frognums life energy. These may also be refilled by collectible symbols. On loss of all life energy, Frognum loses one life and restarts from the last Record slab, so to speak a checkpoint which is selectable by the player.
The game consists of about 100 screens, on leaving a screen it will be switched to the next one.
