The Landsmeet did not go according to plan at all, and I sort of blame the game for that. My intention with this playthrough was to get Alistair to become accepted as king with the player character as his consort. That did happen, but not without restorting to brute force since I failed the political argument despite having spent several hours getting through all the required side quests before getting started with the gathering of nobles itself.
I had to pour through a few walkthrough texts to figure out exactly why it was impossible for me to "win" the Landsmeet, but apparently I should have dealt with two very minor characters in a slightly different way than I did. To be sure, making choices which result in Anora siding with her father Loghain naturally narrows the margin of error, but I really would have preferred the choices/consequences mechanics at play here to be more transparent and straightforward than they actually are.
