When you arrive in Coffinwell, things aren't so well. Everyone seems to have the plague. You have to see the mayor, then speak to the doctor, then get a key from the mayor, give it to the doctor, and then you can head inside the Quarantomb!

This is so far the best place to level grind; you get metal slimes running around, asking for someone to come and kill 'em!

Metal slimes have 3 or 4 HP (it's completely random), but all attacks do 1 damage to them. Metal Slash (13 Sword Skill Points) can do 2, but multi-hit moves work best (eg. Flailing Nails, although you probably don't have it yet, can do 4 damage).
They are immune to magic attacks. Remember that critical hits bypass defense stats and can do about 50 damage to these slimes, so if you're lucky, that can happen. You may want to get some Spear Skill, because Thunder Thrust always gets a critical if it hits. (Hatchet Man also goes critical when it hits, but none of the basic classes can equip axes)
