Previously, the party went through the watergate east of Castle Swanstone and made their way west to the fishing village of Pescado. However, there is a mystery surrounding Rod, an injured man who makes frequent visits to a cave north of the village. Something is strange here.

After talking to Rod and the salesman at the fish restaurant, the 'Plaice to Be', the party should talk to the salesman once again (time 0:32). He suddenly dashes out to make a delivery. The party then tails the man (time 1:00). He makes a beeline for Rod's house. Within, the party talks to Rod and the salesman. The salesman will return to his shop.

The party then leaves Rod's house (time 2:04). He will depart behind them and limp off. If the party follows at a distance, he will lead north to the cave. You can also shortcut this process by entering a building and then leaving.

The party pursues Rod into the Mermaids' Cave (time 3:46). The objective now is to follow Rod at a distance without being detected. At intervals, he will pause and look around to make sure he isn't being followed. As long as the lead character is hidden, you should be fine. If you get detected, he'll go back home, and you'll have to trigger another fish delivery to get him to leave.

After the first room, they shadow him into the second room (time 5:23). Then, they follow him into the third room (time 6:57).

At the end of the third room, if the party has tailed him successfully, Rod will unwittingly reveal a switch in the northern wall that opens the southwestern door (time 8:15). Sneaky!

After Rod leaves, the party will have to hit the switch themselves (time 8:50). This will open the door and let them follow Rod (time 9:17).

Rod is in the other entrance to the cave ... and he's with a mermaid! My, what will the villagers think? For the first question, they will have to say 'No', meaning they did see something strange. After Unda surfaces, the party will have to agree to keep mum about her. Then, the beautiful tale of Rod the fisherman and Unda the mermaid will unfold. However, Unda is now stuck because she lost track of her mermaid sisters, and she cannot cross the dangerous seas to her home.

Then, the party talks to Rod again (time 13:47). He then begs the party to escort her home. Well, of course!

Afterwards, the party backtracks through the serpentine cave (time 14:55). Outside of town, they board their ship and go through the main entrance to Mermaids' Cave (time 15:51).

Another scene occurs as they approach Rod and Unda (time 16:22). After a bittersweet farewell, Unda begins traveling with the party. As they turn to leave, Rod advises them to search for Unda's kind in the northeastern sea.

So, the party Zooms to Port Haven (time 19:04). Then, they escort Unda north from there to the Mermaids' Reef (time 19:21). A scene ensues as the party approaches the mermaids at the reef (time 19:49). The poor mermaids are again startled, but Unda begs them not to run off. Her older sister is ... Ova! Ova and Unda! Ha ha ha! It sounds like poor Ova and the others had been seeking Unda far and wide.

Ova rewards the party with a crucial item: Lorelei's Harp. When they play this harp out on the sea, the mermaids will enclose their ship in a bubble of air and take them to the ocean floor. Yes, we now effectively have a submarine! Most of the real world is now at the party's fingertips. They will be able to travel under impediments such as shoals and bridges, and they will be able to go through tunnels to isolated lagoons. There are even important locations to find on the sea bed. Perhaps one belongs to the undersea fiend that the party has heard of.

Then, the party Zooms to Madame Luca's for a little advice (time 25:41). Her crystal ball shows a strapping young king that rules over Somnia Castle, and this is a mystery is one that Heorot must solve.

Well, now that the party has Lorelei's Harp, they can begin exploring the outer sections of the real world.
