With the new metal ticket you can get several encounters with metal slime monsters at the magic maze, all worth big amounts of experience points. You can only go alone but get increased critical hit rate and an auto revive spell cast on you.

My character gains 4 levels from 50 to 54 and my tamed monster goes from level 1 to 27. That's a huge jump of course but you can only get a metal ticket every 9 days or so, at the most. And it was just recently added with the 2.3.5 update on 11/06.

The metal ticket costs 220 hours of energy charge and like other energy charge items it is intended to give players who don't get to login much their sub fee's money worth. Basically when you aren't logged in to DQX the energy charge fills up, until it maxes out at 440 hours. This energy charge can be traded for energy balls which double experience for 30 minutes (standard), 10 minutes (small) or 30 minutes for all party members (super). The standard costs 22 hours, so you can get one every day or so, the small ones 11 hours and the super 88 hours.

I used a small energy ball in addition to the ticket so the metal slime boss battle gave me 199999 experience points. That is the new cap for experience you can get per encounter. Before the last update it was 99999.

I get both the ticket and the small energy ball from my private concierge, then take out my weapon from the cupboard, before heading to Rendor. You have to hand over the ticket to the monster Dorothy to use it. I change my job to priest and have my tamed monsters retreat so I can go, because Dorothy tells me I cannot take anyone with me. The tamed monster still gets experience even when its not a member of the party.
