Previously, the party explored Grotta, the coliseum town. Now, they will move the plot along in hopes of finding the Rainbow-colored Branch.

A scene occurs as they enter the Coliseum (time 2:00). Right away, Veronica notices that the object of their search, the Rainbow-colored Branch, is on display at the Coliseum counter. The Yellow Orb is also there. Maybe the party will get these items by winning a tournament.

The party talks with the man at the Coliseum counter (time 5:05). The party will have to earn the goodies by participating in the Masked Tournament. Each participant will need to be assigned a partner. Davilas acquires the 11 Ball.

Then, the party rides the elevator by talking to the attendant (time 7:03). They arrive in the waiting area.

In the free inn to the east, a barrel contains a Magic Water (time 7:57).

A man by the western stairway has some story info (time 8:24).

Then, the party heads upstairs to the arena (time 8:34). The host begins by randomly pairing up Davilas with a partner: a lovely lady with the number 8. Unfortunately, a dirty old man throws a wrench in the gears, and Davilas gets paired up with number 7 instead. The good thing is that number 7 is Humphrey, the reigning champion. He's certainly physically impressive. The other contestants get assigned.

Afterwards, Davilas returns to the waiting area (time 12:44). He talks to the elevator attendant and rides the elevator downstairs (time 13:28). Gotta love the quaint old safety measures on the elevator.

A scene occurs as Davilas returns to the coliseum lobby (time 15:03). He meets up with Senya. Unfortunately, Veronica has run off!

Outside the coliseum, the party finds Veronica arguing with Clemson, one of the contestants (time 15:37). Ah, that Veronica! Fortunately, our new friend, Humphrey shows up to defuse the situation.

After the scene, a man outside the orphanage will have some story info (time 18:33).

Humphrey can now be found in the downstairs courtyard of the orphanage (time 19:42).

To progress, the party must rest--for free--at the inn (time 20:55). In the morning, Humphrey shows up to take Davilas to the coliseum.

Davilas regains control in the coliseum's waiting area (time 21:45). A man in the waiting room will save the game. Not a bad idea.

To continue to the arena, Davilas must talk to Humphrey by the stairs (time 22:47). The announcer introduces the Humphrey-Davilas team and their opponents, Clemson and Berorin Man. Clemson was the one arguing with Veronica earlier.

After the scene, Round 1 begins, set to the DQ4 battle music (time 24:45). Humphrey is a pretty strong support character, and he will throw Strong Medicines at Davilas as needed. As for the opponents, Clemson has some strong crits. Berorin Man, like the Abominable Showman, will summon copies of himself. Fortunately, Davilas's magic will take out the copies pretty quickly. Davilas should be at Level 19, bare minimum, for Midheal.

A scene occurs after Clemson and Berorin Man are defeated (time 27:49). Afterwards, Davilas and Humphrey watch as Camus and his partner fight Ro and Martina. Poor Camus gets his butt kicked. I hope he doesn't need to see a dentist right after that... However, Humphrey does not seem too concerned about his own chances. Afterwards, the announcer shows which teams will advance to the next round.

Afterwards, Humphrey talks to Davilas (time 31:04). He invites Davilas to see him at the orphanage.

As Davilas exits the coliseum, Veronica again causes a scene (time 31:37). This time, she's bawling Camus out for losing to Ro and Martina. Then, Ro and Martina, unmasked, emerge. Interestingly, Ro refers to Martina as "princess". Martina advises Davilas to be careful of Humphrey. Curious. Is she trying to psyche him out, or is it a genuine warning?

After the scene, Senya outside the coliseum entrance will have some story info (time 33:28).

Next time, Davilas will go to the orphanage to talk to Humphrey, and then he will continue the Masked Tournament.
