Previously, the party ascended to the fourth floor of the Gold Castle north of the Viking Hideout. Now, they will face this gaudy dungeon's gold-plated boss.
On the approach to the final door, they find a chest containing four Sage's Elixirs (time 0:14). Hoo, yeah!
After preparing, the party goes through the door to the throne room (time 1:03). Glittering Gold appears to be Camus's sister, Maya! Demon King Urunouga visited her and returned her to normal so she could turn the world to gold. What a guy, eh? She feels that Camus abandoned her. Using the power of the necklace, she transforms into a massive gold-plated beast that reminds me of a bull.
After the scene, it is boss time against Glittering Gold (time 6:10). She suffers from high defense. Naturally, she can act twice in a turn. She has a quadruple strike against random party members. She can raise her attack power with Oomph. She can also use the necklace's power to turn a couple of party members to gold, rendering them inactive for a turn or two. She has a focused fireball attack that deals over 200 points of damage. To make things even more interesting, she can call allies into battle.
To deal good damage to her, Sylvia can put Oomph on the physical attackers, and Greg and Ro can Sap Glittering Gold's defense. Ro's healing is essential, and Sylvia's Hustle Dance is a useful supplement. It is also a good time to try out Martina's Devil Mode.
At the end of the battle, the party earns 21,008 experience points and 30,342 Gold (time 12:40). Greg reaches Level 42 and gains 7 skill points for a total of 17. Ro reaches Level 42 and gains 5 skill points for a total of 8. Under the Virtue skill, Greg picks up the ability to the left of Shield Attack for 12 points.
More cutscene goodness takes place afterwards (time 13:48). As the necklace causes more mayhem, Camus prepares to rescue Maya from its influence.
After the scene, the party earns an accolade for having over 100,000 Gold on hand (time 15:16).
To continue, Davilas must approach Camus and choose "Yes" (time 15:41). As Davilas uses his power to stun the gold tentacles, Camus acts desperately to reach his sister. Her own tear destroys the necklace. Afterwards, Camus is returned to normal. He finds the Yellow Orb at his sister's feet.
Next, the party has taken Maya to the priest in Kreimoran so he can look after her (time 19:03). Kreimoran seems to be back to normal now. Camus hands over the Yellow Orb to Davilas. Even better, Camus's Skill Panel is now expanded!
After the scene, the party gains control outside the church in Kreimoran Castle Town (time 20:37). The party earns an accolade, and the player earns the trophy "At the End of Penance".
Camus checks out his updated Skill Panel (time 22:04). Under his Thievery skill, he picks up the next trait up for 14 points. This appears to raise Steal chance. At the top of the Thievery skill tree is a guaranteed crit skill. It costs a whopping 64 MP, but it is very useful against metal enemies.
In the southeast, a soldier near the exit from town has some story information (time 24:31). It seems the gold iceberg blocking the way to the Shikesubia Snowfields has disappeared, so the party can begin heading back to Ramuda.
The party rests at the Kreimoran campsite (time 24:56). Examining the Mysterious Blacksmith, Davilas gains another crafting level.
He makes a Gold Circlet for Martina (time 26:10). It requires 2 Gold Ores, a Red Eye, and a Gold Fragment. He just succeeds in making a normal Gold Circlet.
He also makes Camus a King Coat (time 28:05). It requires 3 Silk Blooms, an Ethereal Stone, and a Sapphire. He succeeds in making a King Coat +2.
Next time, the party will set out east toward Ramuda.
Thanks for watching!
