This is video #03 in my Dragon Warrior playthrough. My hero, Heorot, has just reached Level 3 and learned the Heal spell. Now is the time to do a little exploring. After buying a second Torch at the Item Shop, he heads north to Erdrick's Cave (time index 1:20). This place is quite dark, but there are no enemies to worry about. Down on B2, he finds a treasure chest containing a Tablet. This is a message from Erdrick, the hero's ancestor. Erdrick speaks of three items that he used to reach the Isle of Dragons south of Brecconary. Now, they are in the hands of three protectors. So, Heorot must gather these items to reach Castle Charlock.

After leaving Erdrick's Cave, Heorot heads northwest along the coast to reach the town of Garinham (time index 4:30). Wowee, check out those prices! One soldier mentions a person named Nester. I can only assume that he is referring to the comic strip character that Nintendo Power developed in their early issues. Other townspeople have more relevant comments concerning Princess Gwaelin, who is being held prisoner in a cave somewhere.

After leaving Garinham, Heorot begins to do some leveling in the vicinity of Erdrick's Cave. There are some new enemies here, including Drakees and Ghosts. Run like the wind if a Magician appears, though; its Hurt spell is murder.

When he reaches level 4 (time index 10:00), he gains plenty of MP and learns the useful Hurt spell.
