I wanted to check out whether the series "Dragonball" is something I would like, and very early in the very first episode, one event disturbed me so much (WTF?! ... Seriously? What?! What the? ... FFFF...!!!) that it occupied my mind for the whole rest of the episode.
Man, those writers scare me a little!

This was probably a relatively popular but dumb script writing tool of making a character do something that would normally be extremely appaling or otherwise inappropriate, but seems less so merely because it didn't succeed.
Remember Han Solo instantly shooting at Darth Vader in the cloud city when the doors opened? A plot-ending action that was only in the script because it didn't succeed anyway. The protagonists would never have tried to just kill Vader in a straightforward way if it was bound to succeed.
