Dragon's Dogma 2 gets a lot of flack for the microtransactions... I want to say that thanks to Capcom's shitty model, which frankly is just a symptom of a larger problem, any creative/artistic decision this game makes is immediately scrutinized, cynically, for an ulterior motive related to monetization. And frankly, if you're stupid, you probably don't see how long they've been doing this.

I actually think the worst part about this game is how it's your typical "Didn't have enough time in the oven, push it out as soon as possible" AAA game, but... I don't really feel outraged about that. Like, it's capitalism *big shrug*. And I mean that in the sense of, the race to the bottom is shitty and produces about what you'd expect.

Dragon's Dogma 2's ability to translate roaming and things that most turn based JRPGs have to abstract in some way, into an action game/open world language is, for the most part, really unique and fun. I feel like there's potential here, even if it's really rough around the edges. I'm still making my way through it so I don't quite know how it's going to compare to my experience with the first Dragon's Dogma.

Either way, something annoying about this jump is that it's one of the few instances where I think there's something elaborate, at least that I've done, with the Thief's Wall Jump. Most of the time, and frankly too many times, the Mage/Sorcerer Levitation ability is far more useful at getting access to certain areas. I'd say that traversal and obtaining items often feels really obnoxious, it goes counter to the feeling of serendipity/spontaneity that I think represent the highs of the game.

Gonna see how the rest of the game goes.
